The main active ingredient in the smart filler is Polycaprolactone (PCL) and it constitutes 30% of the filler product. The semi-synthetic, water-soluble polymer called Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC), which is used as a carrier and volume coater, forms 70% of the filling mixture. The CMC carrier material, which provides the feeling of fullness, generally dissolves within a month after the procedure.
The new collagen fibers produced are Type I collagen, also found in our skin. Type I collagen is the most common collagen type found in the body. Other collagen stimulating fillers stimulate Type III collagen, which is the type of collagen prominent in wound healing and gives the skin flexibility and strength. This difference is the most important factor that distinguishes smart fillers from other collagen stimulating fillers.
ELLANSE is a gel made of 70% PBS-biodegradable material (CARBOxymethylcellulose, CMC) coated with perfect microspheres made of 30% polycaprolactone (PCL) of 25-50 microns (µm). The microspheres distribute the injected gel evenly in a 3D space in the subcutaneous tissue, creating a scaffold to help the skin regrow its own collagen. The smooth, perfectly round sphere is used for skin tissue reconstruction with 3D printing method. The smooth surface of the sphere gently contacts the tissue and slightly stimulates the tissue to grow new high-quality collagen. The gel's viscosity can be repaired immediately after injection, so it provides instant filling and wrinkle repair, while improving skin elasticity. After all the microspheres are absorbed by the body at the 13th month of Ellanse-S, the space of the original microspheres will be filled with new autologous collagen to replace the absorbed gel muscle, so that long-term continuous repair can be achieved, and the skin will appear smoother and more beautiful than when the skin was first applied.
When injected into the skin, Ellansé reverses skin aging with a 2-step process:
Ellansé is made of microspheres that degrade differently from other fillers. When Ellansé is introduced into your body, it undergoes a "resorption" process whereby the molecules progressively dissolve. The microspheres retain their original volume until almost all the molecules are dissolved.
The longevity is dependent on the number of molecules composing the spheres. The more molecules there are, the longer lasting the result will be.

The formation of collagen means that a new tissue is formed. A new tissue is formed between the PLA particles and the particles, and the cells move into the PLA particles as a porous structure, forming a new tissue.
