Profilo treatment is considered a bioremodelling therapy. This unique stabilized hybrid cooperative HA complex has different biological properties when compared to monotherapy with either High or Low molecular weight HAs. The resistance to enzymatic degradation, slow release action and biocompatibility properties makes it different from the standard HAs in today's market. 

The slow release action of Profhilo treatment provides hydration at the epidermal layer and enhances volume within the dermal architecture. There is an up-regulation of the 4 main types of collagen. There is an increased expression of type I and III collagen in fibroblasts and type IV and VII in keratinocytes. In addition, elastin and natural HAs within the skin are stimulated. This multimodal effect increases hydration, elasticity and lifting effect of the skin.

Can Profhilo be used for other Indications?

 The current indication is for the lower two-thirds of the face and neck for skin rejuvenation. 
There are case studies of doctors using Profhilo either as monotherapy or combination therapy for atrophic scars, facial acne scars and post surgical scars on the lower limbs. There are also preliminary reports of Profhilo as a complementary therapy for the management of atopic dermatitis. These results although encouraging are considered off-label for the moment.

Can I Still Do Profhilo After I Had A Filler?

Although Profhilo is biocompatible, BDDE-free and does not contain chemical cross-linked agents, we are of the opinion that there must be a gap of at least 4 weeks from your last filler treatment.

What's the procedure like?
The face is cleansed and anaesthetic cream is applied onto the 5 Bio-Aesthetic Points (BAP) on each side of the face. Is there any downtime?
The initial bumps observed at each injection site rapidly subsides in the next few hours. There is virtually no downtime for this treatment.

Developed by Profhilo, the Bio Aesthetic Point (BAP) technique is used for the lower face and neck. The 5 BAPs are selected as injection points because these areas of the face contain no large blood vessels or nerve branches. This promotes optimal diffusion of Profhilo`s hybrid HA complex while minimizing the risk of bruising and complications. Each BAP is injected with 0.2ml of Profhilo (a total of 10 injection points, with 5 on each side of the face). The procedure is quick, with minimal discomfort. After the topical anesthetic has been applied to numb the treatment area, Profhilo is injected using a very fine needle. One syringe of Prohilo is administered to 5 points on each side of the face.
